"X-Men: Apocalypse" star Jennifer Lawrence just shared a new clip of the movie on her Facebook account, showing her mutant Raven's first encounter with the young Nightcrawler, who is played by newcomer Kodi Smit-McPhee.
In the clip, Nightcrawler is shown stuck in an underground cage match with Angel (Ben Hardy), while a crowd of restless people watch in anticipation. Nightcrawler does not want to fight, so he teleports from one place to another, but gets electrocuted when he holds onto the surrounding wires.
A worried-looking Raven appears, and she seems disturbed by the unfair match. She then intervenes by approaching one of the guards and knocking him out.
The third trailer of the film actually shows how Raven is successful in her rescue of Nightcrawler. When they get out, Nightcrawler is awestruck seeing his rescuer. He says, "You're her." But Raven only appears upset by the recognition.
Director Bryan Singer explained that Nightcrawler was wowed by Raven's appearance because her actions back in "X-Men: Days of Future Past," when she saved the world in full view of dozens of rolling cameras, made her a legend.
"She's famous, but nobody's really seen her since," Singer told Empire about that scene. "Meeting her is a big deal to him. She's the great hero from 1973 and he's starstruck in that moment."
Other mutants might bask in the admiration, but not Raven. "She's not comfortable with it. She's not interested in being the face of a world that she doesn't believe exists. She's not a hero," he continued.
Earlier, Kodi Smit-McPhee told JoBlo that his character is actually trying to conquer his fears in this movie, so it's good to have someone to look up to.
"I'm sure Nightcrawler, he's kind of scared of his own shadow at this point, so he's probably pretty terrified. Through everything he does in this movie it's kind of, as we say, the stepping-stones of becoming the brave hero he is," he said.
"X-Men: Apocalypse" will hit cinemas on May 27.
