Long before he nabbed the role of Marvel Cinematic Universe's first black superhero Black Panther, "Captain America: Civil War" star Chadwick Boseman was already envisioning himself as T'Challa.

He even had a little help from one of the crew of the film "Gods of Egypt," where he starred as Thoth, alongside "Game of Thrones" star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as Horus.

"A security guard on 'Gods of Egypt' placed his original 'Black Panther' comic in my dressing room, told me to read it, and told me that one day I would play Black Panther," he said during his guest appearance at The Kelly and Michael Show.

Boseman added that the security guy's name is Charles Carter, and he jokingly said that Carter might have even placed a call to Marvel, telling the company that Boseman would be perfect for the role of T'Challa.

Boseman made his first appearance as the African prince in "Captain America: Civil War," which is directed by Joe and Anthony Russo.

The directors did not really plan on giving the Black Panther much screen time, but they changed their mind in the end because they wanted to establish a proper introduction to his character.

"We thought, wouldn't it be fun if we took a free radical, who enters the story, that has a strong investment in the plot, the strongest investment in the plot in many ways, and not have him give a damn about either side in the fight?" Anthony told the Wall Street Journal.

For those who are unfamiliar with the character, Black Panther (or T'Challa) is the crown prince of Wakanda. Wakanda is a fictional African-American nation that boasts of impressive technological advancements. They are responsible for creating the metal vibranium, which is used to construct Captain America's shield.

"Black Panther," which will be directed by Ryan Coogler, is slated for release on Feb. 16, 2018.
