On Monday, May 2, the biggest names in Hollywood and fashion celebrated the "Manus x Machina: Fashion In An Age Of Technology" Costume Institute Gala, better known as "The Met Gala" at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
The full exhibition, which opens to the public on New York City on May 5, explores the relationship between the handmade and the machine-produced in fashion.
As one of the biggest red carpets of the year, there were some major fashion hits but, of course, inevitably a few fails.
From Nicki Minaj in a bondage-inspired gown to Madonna's cringe-worthy lace look, check out who we thought missed the mark as we named the worst dressed at the 2016 Met Gala below.

While the actual gown is quite beautiful, the singer's sullen frown and slumped shoulders just made this ballet-themed Valentino Fall 2016 look appear totally uncomfortable and out of place.

She just doesn't know when to quit. The 57-year-old "Material Girl" tried to shock us in a sheer lacy look by Givenchy that exposed her thong and nipple pasties, accessorized with leather thigh-high boots, body chain and headpiece. Sorry Madge, we are over it. Cue the eye roll.
