Good news for fans, we are about to get more of Mindy's awkward love life and cute baby Leo because "The Mindy Project" has just been renewed for a fifth season.
Deadline reported that Hulu announced the renewal at their Upfront presentation in New York on Wednesday, May 4.
Those who have been following "The Mindy Project" since the first season, will remember that the comedy first appeared on Fox. When Fox decided not to renew the show for a fourth season Hulu picked it up.
Fans have also been concerned about Chris Messina's, Danny Castellano, place in "The Mindy Project." When the second half of season 4 returned, we saw Mindy and Danny trying to work out their issues but failing. Danny was deadset on having more children and Mindy staying at home to raise them, while Mindy has career goals she would like to meet.
Unable to work out their differences, they called off the wedding and ended their romantic relationship. We have not seen much of Danny since season 4 returned. But there is no need for fans to worry. Chris Messina's name was included in the Hulu release, so it looks like he will continue to be a part of the series.
Aside from "The Mindy Project," Hulu also ordered an election-themed special courtesy of Triumph, the Insult Comic Dog, which will debut later in the year. Also, from Hulu later in the year, we will see Ron Howard's documentary "The Beatles: Eight Days A Week."
"The Mindy Project" is getting ready to close out its fourth season similar to the way it started its first, with Mindy on the hunt for love and not having all that much success. The only difference now is that she is a mother.
It will be very interesting to see how the show handles Mindy as a single mother while also staying true to her character.
