Entertainment Weekly recently reported that there is going to be a crossover between "The Vampire Diaries" and "The Originals."
Co-executive producer Julie Plec revealed to TVLine that Stefan Salvatore travels to New Orleans in order to escape a curse that has been placed upon him and he decides to stay in order to help Klaus Mikaelson with the prophecy about the fall of the Mikaelsons.

According to TVLine, Stefan and Klaus are going to bond in the crossover episodes over falling in love.
"Stefan's now with Caroline, and Klaus has already gone through everything with Cami," Plec explained. "They have a surprisingly civil and honest conversation about love-what it means and the sacrifices that you have to make in the name of it."
It will be interesting to see how Klaus and Stefan's heart-to-heart affects the latter's relationship with Caroline. After all, the flash-forwards revealed that Stefan will eventually breakup with Caroline and she gets engaged to Alaric.

Since Stefan is going to help Klaus deal with the prophecy surrounding the falls of the Mikaelsons, it is possible that the latter will help his friend defeat Julian.
Perhaps once Klaus and his siblings have successfully evaded the prophecy, the Original vampires will journey to Mystic Falls in order to kill Julian.
Not only would that allow for another crossover episode to take place, but it would be an interesting twist too.

Finally, having a crossover between "The Originals" and "The Vampire Diaries" is an interesting twist for both series.
Although they are sister shows, they haven't intersected much until now. Connecting the two different storylines is a nice remind for viewers that "The Vampire Diaries" and "The Originals" exist in the same world.
Plus, it's also an excellent way to join two different storylines on the shows.
"The Vampire Diaries" and "The Originals" midseason premieres will air on Friday, Jan. 29, on the CW.
