"Allegiant" stars Theo James and Shailene Woodley have such amazing onscreen chemistry that fans cannot help but wish the two were a real-life couple.
According to James, the secret to their wonderful pairing on the big screen is long, intimate talks about their portrayals.
"The hard part of playing the relationship is making sure it doesn't feel artificial. Hopefully, we did that with this movie," James told the Fresno Bee of "Allegiant."
James is really proud of the themes tackled by "Allegiant" and how it makes people want to be more accepting of people who are different from them.
"The driving theme of 'Allegiant' is that people should not be separated or categorized because of differences, whether they are physical or mental or economic," James said. "To categorize is extremely dangerous and leads to abuse of power."
"Another theme is a young woman growing into maturity and how she evolves and adapts and reacts to big, huge problems," James added, referring to the development shown by Woodley's character Tris Prior.
Since he starred as the brooding Four in the "Divergent" franchise, James' popularity has gone through the roof.
The British actor even admitted that he would have fans asking him for autographs or request to have photographs taken with him at the most unexpected places.
"I think the weirdest encounter I have had is fans asking for photographs while I am in the toilet," James laughingly said.
Thankfully, he added, most of his encounters with fans are handled in a respectful manner.
Earlier, when James was asked what the biggest challenge was in playing Four, he answered that it was maintaining the character's mysterious aura.
"What is tricky for a character that begins with an air or mystery is that by the time you've done three movies there's less mystery," James told the Toronto Sun. "If you're making movies with the same characters, having new directors isn't necessarily a bad thing."
"Allegiant" already hit theaters on March 18.
