Matchbox 20 frontman Rob Thomas was thrilled to no end when the "iZombie" show creator, who is also named Rob Thomas, asked him to make a cameo for season 2. However, he had one specific request before taking on the cameo.
The singer wanted to delay reading the script, so he can catch up on previous episodes and avoid any spoilers. However, the "iZombie" crew were on a time crunch, so Thomas wasn't able to binge-watch the episodes he missed before doing his cameo.
"When ['iZombie' Rob Thomas] called me, it was straight-up: 'Hey, I don't know if you've seen it, but I've got this show 'iZombie,' and we're getting ready to do the season 2 finale. Do you think you might want to come in and play yourself?' I thought I could play myself just about better than anybody," the singer told Movie Pilot.
It was truly worth it for Thomas to make his cameo, spoilers and all, because he was able to develop "legitimate friendships" with the cast and producers.
Even Robert Buckley, who plays Major Lily-white in the series, cannot stop raving about Thomas, calling him "such a sweet, sweet guy, and his wife is great."
Meanwhile, Buckley's co-star David Anders, who plays the villain Blaine DeBeers, is happy that a lot of people are already watching their show devotedly. For those who aren't sure whether "iZombie" would be their cup of tea, he said that they should give the show a shot.
"It's very funny," Anders told Parade of the show. "That's what drew me to it in the first place. It's full of funny, talented actors."
"I love shows like ours that can do it all. It can be very violent; it can be mean. But it can be frothy and fun," he added.
"iZombie" season 3 is slated for the 2016-2017 roster of The CW.
