"Orange is the New Black" star Kate Mulgrew, who plays inmate Galina "Red" Reznikov told fans of the show that they should "buckle their seatbelts" in preparation for season 4 because of all the crazy happenings in store.
Mulgrew told the Latin Times that show creator Jenji Kohan will be "examining the prison system as it has never been examined before."
At the same time, Mulgrew assured fans that the show will not lose its essence of comedy, but there will be a darker side to the ladies' stories.
"There's a lot of laughs, but you must buckle your seatbelts, because she takes some very interesting turns. It gets very dark," she said. "I think you will be very surprised, I think you will be wholeheartedly engaged, you will be riveted."
Whatever happens in the show, Mulgrew said that she has utmost confidence in Kohan's vision and looks "forward to more" interesting storylines.
Meanwhile, Mulgrew's co-star Selenis Leyva, who plays inmate Gloria Mendoza, said that the women of Litchfield Penitentiary are going to stir up more trouble this season, particularly the Latina group.
"I think [Season 4] is going to be one of the most talked about seasons," Leyva told The Huffington Post. "There's a lot more conflict, there's division amongst the groups more than ever. This is the season of the rise of the Latinas and there's a lot of conflict within that."
Leyva refused to go into detail and provide spoilers for the next season, but she did say that fans would definitely be holding on to the edge of their seats once the fourth season rolls about.
"There's a lot of danger lurking around the corner this season. My heart was beating fast for the six months we were shooting," she teased.
"Orange is the New Black" season 4 will return to Netflix on Friday, June 17.
