"X-Men: Apocalypse" star Tye Sheridan actually hasn't seen any of the previous "X-Men" films prior to landing the role of Cyclops. But once he bagged the part, Sheridan started watching it all just to keep abreast with the characters and their stories.

"After I saw it, I just thought, 'Oh my God. I've been missing this the whole time?!'" he told Entertainment Weekly. "I went back and watched all the previous films, and I quickly became obsessed."

Sheridan was so obsessed that he became very finicky about all the little details surrounding his character, who used to be portrayed by James Marsden.

"The sophistication of the questions he would ask me were of a very intelligent nature," director Bryan Singer even raved. "He thinks about the details and takes it very seriously."

But when Sheridan was asked how he got into character, the young actor became modest. "Everyone else's moves are kinda cool, and I just take off my glasses and stare at someone really intensely and growl," he laughingly said.

Earlier, Sheridan told Den of Geek that his character was a "weirdo at school" and he only felt accepted when he joined the X-Men and Professor Charles Xavier's School For Gifted Youngsters.

"It's not until then that he feels that he actually has a place that he feels normal and that there are people just like him at the school. He's got to quickly get control of his super powers and help the X-Men [fight Apocalypse] at the end of the movie," he said.

Sheridan added that "X-Men: Apocalypse" is going to be very spectacular because "it's very much an origin story for everyone; it is all their beginnings, so it doesn't exactly have to sync up with where we last saw these characters chronologically and who they are to us now."

"X-Men: Apocalypse" will make its way to cinemas on May 27.
