It has almost been a decade of "The Big Bang Theory," but will it continue?
Currently, "The Big Bang Theory" is in its ninth season, and we know that it will return for a tenth, but that's all the series has been renewed for.
The series started with four scientists who were unlucky in love. They were socially awkward and stuck in the four walls of their nerddom. Then they met Penny, and things began to change.
Almost a decade later, two are married, and the rest are closer than they have ever been. Sheldon, who was the farthest removed from reality, managed to overcome his disdain for people and find love in the arms of Amy. Then there's Raj, who could not even speak when a girl was in the room, and now he's managed to work that out and find love too.
So with the growth of all these characters, is it time to bring the series to an end?
Kaley Cuoco told TVLine, "I think it's a given that we want to be here. That's the overall consensus. It might be a sticky road, but if I have anything to do with it, we'd be here for much longer. That's the goal."
Jim Parsons added, "If the opportunity to go past Season 10 came up, I'd be very hard-pressed to tell you who [among the cast] might say no — if anybody would. I wouldn't."
In the end, it will come down to whether the network wants to re-up.
"The Big Bang Theory" has had great success. Even in its ninth season, it still wins out above the other network comedies with 15.7 million weekly viewers.
"All I know is [there will be a] Season 10," showrunner Steve Molaro told TVLine. "I'll keep pushing forward and, as we learn more, we'll adjust if necessary... If everything keeps going the way it's been going, absolutely [I'm up for more]."
So it looks like it is going to come down to whether the network thinks "The Big Bang Theory" should go on.
"The Big Bang Theory" will return with season 9, episode 18, on March 10, 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
