All of the superhero movies of the Marvel Cinematic Universe are linked, and Joe Russo, director of the latest film "Captain America: Civil War," is excited to see what Taika Waititi does for the next Marvel project "Thor: Ragnarok."
Russo told Newshub that he has not met Waititi yet, but he was able to get information about the third "Thor" film from producers and cast.
"I talked to [Chris] Hemsworth a couple of weeks ago, information is being passed back-and-forth all the time," he said. "We have a very close relationship with a lot of the directors who are working on these movies, they're personal friends of ours. People are texting and emailing each other all the time. It's like United Artists, it's a group of very like-minded guys who all like each other, we're working on the same story-telling, helping each other and looking for the best ideas to create movies that appeal to the audience."
Russo added that selecting Waititi to helm "Thor 3" is a fantastic idea, and he could not think of another director who can better take on the project.
"I think Marvel has been absolutely brilliant in some of their choices and Taika is a home-run. Tonally, he's one of the nicest guys in the world. He's super smart, super funny, he's going to bring so much to that project. I'm really excited about what he's going to do with it," he gushed.
Meanwhile, the Latino Review revealed that Natalie Portman will not return to the franchise as Jane Foster. Instead, Marvel is getting "Creed" star Tessa Thompson to portray Valkyrie, who is described as "a kind of superhero and will appear in other Marvel films as well."
Other stars of the film include Cate Blanchett, Tom Hiddleston and Mark Ruffalo.
"Thor: Ragnarok" will be released on Nov. 3, 2017.
