The latest "Once Upon A Time" season 5 episode entitled "Last Rites" is a real heartbreaker. Read ahead only if you're ready for spoilers!
Regina Mills (Lana Parilla) and her true love Robin Hood (Sean Maguire) teamed up in order to get his daughter back from Zelena (Rebecca Mader). The two even shared a lot of tender moments throughout the episode, with Robin telling Regina, "You are my future."
Regina answers back, "I'm with you, always." Could she have been foreshadowing her lover's death right then?
When the two finally confronted Hades (Greg Germann), the ruler of the Underworld pointed his Olympian crystal at Regina. Without batting an eyelash, Robin steps in to save her and dies before her very eyes.
Zelena witnesses the act and she comes to the realization then that Hades will never change and that her love will never be enough for him. Zelena then sided with her sister and killed Hades.
The show's producers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz earlier told The Hollywood Reporter that "Last Rites" is going to be "very emotional" for fans and that it would "break a few hearts."
The two also said that Robin's death would be felt heavily throughout the upcoming two-hour finale.
"Emotions will run the gamut. Everyone will be affected by whatever happens, and it will set people on different paths for the finale," said Horowitz.
Kitsis added, "We're really going to get into Regina's head and find out really how she feels about everything in a way we never have before. We can hope for happiness for Regina - she's certainly striving for it."
TV Line actually asked Maguire earlier if his character is going to get killed off, but the actor refused to give out any spoilers.
"There are obstacles everywhere - a lot of bad people from the past are coming back and they are not too happy with our heroes. If 'Once Upon a Time' was the 'Star Wars' franchise, this would be 'Empire Strikes Back.' It's going to get dark, it's going to be scary, and there will be surprises," he simply said.
"Once Upon a Time" airs every Sunday at 8 p.m. on ABC.
